What is consignment?
When you consign something with Giggles & Gumdrops, you are allowing us to sell your item for you. You retain ownership of your item until it sells.
How do I shop consignment?
Shopping consignment is very similar to shopping at any other store. Stop in and you will find a different mix of products than the last time you were in as our inventory changes daily! It's like a treasure hunt!
Why shop consignment?
Consignment is a win-win-win shopping platform. You win by finding only clean, desirable items at a deeply discounted price. Your friends and neighbors win by finding a new home for their beloved possessions and making money at the same time. The environment wins as less resources will be used to produce new goods as more gently-used goods are given a second life. Also, it is fun (and addicting) to shop consignment as our inventory changes daily.
Why consign my items?
You should consign because it is an easy way to generate extra money and help the environment. You will receive 40% of your item's sales price in cash or 50% in store credit.
How do I drop off my items?
You can bring your items in anytime we're open. We will sort through them while you wait on your first visit so you can see what we can and cannot accept. After your first visit, you can simply bring your items in and drop them off (or you can wait if you'd prefer). We will contact you if there is anything we could not accept and email you a detailed receipt. Please bring only items that are completely free of stains, excessive wear, tears, torn seams, etc. Clothing that is freshly laundered and wrinkle-free sells more quickly.
Can't you just buy my items from me?
We very rarely purchase items outright. It is more beneficial to you if you consign them as you will make more money. When we do buy outright, we have to figure in more variables, and thus can only offer you a very small percent of the items original value.
What happens if my items don't sell?
Our consignment period is 60 days. If we were unable to sell your items for you and you would like to have them back, please contact us the week before or after your items' expiration date. We will have any unsold items ready for you to pick up within 24 hours. Due to space constraints, we cannot hold items for long, so please pick up promptly. If you choose not to pick up your items, they become property of the store and will either be clearanced out or donated.
Who sets the selling price for my items?
We set the selling price for you. If you have a few items that you would like to suggest a price for, please feel free to mention it at the time of drop off, or leave us a note with your items and we will do our best to accommodate your request. We generally price items at 30%-50% of the original retail price.
I see you do markdowns on my items. Can I pick them up before they go on sale?
If your items are not selling, we will mark them down to keep our inventory fresh - 40% after six weeks. These items still belong to you so you can pick them up before they go on sale. However, since we put so much time and effort into merchandising and marketing your items, if this happens more than one time, we would be unable to partner with you in the future.
